Spine Pain

Spinal pain is a common chronic pain and can interfere with your daily functioning. The spine is prone to strain because its function is to bear the weight of the body, and it is heavily involved in moving, twisting and bending. Symptoms of chronic spinal pain include:

  • Stiffness in the lower back area that restricts range of motion

  • Inability to maintain a normal posture due to pain or stiffness

  • Muscle spasms when you are active and/or at rest

  • Pain that does not resolve itself with rest, and/or pain that persists for 10-14 days

  • Loss of motor function

  • Numbness, tingling or weakness

  • Bowel or bladder problems

  • Dizziness and headaches

Many strains related to the spine can resolve themselves with time and rest. However, if you are still experiencing persistent and intense spinal pain, we encourage you to make an appointment with our physician so we can help you treat and manage the pain.

You may be more at risk for spinal pain due to the following factors:

  • Aging

  • Poor physical fitness

  • Being overweight

  • Your occupation

  • Smoking

  • Past injuries

  • Disease

  • Family history
