Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that is usually characterized by chronic musculoskeletal pain (pain in the muscles and the bones). Fibromyalgia can involve numerous symptoms, including the following:

  • Fatigue

  • Lack of energy

  • Insomnia

  • Depression or anxiety

  • Problems with memory and/or trouble concentrating

  • Headaches

  • Muscle twitches or cramps

  • Numbness or tingling in the hands and feet

  • Chronic pain that is throbbing, aching or stabbing

Fibromyalgia can cause pain in the neck, back, arms, legs, shoulders and/or hips. Symptoms of fibromyalgia can occur after infection, physical trauma, surgery or a period of severe psychological stress. Many patients that suffer from fibromyalgia also suffer from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome or anxiety and depression. There is currently no cure for fibromyalgia, but there are options available to you to relieve pain associated with the condition.
